RE: Prodigy P3 Brake Controller

JFG - Thanks for the information. Did they indicate which wiring harness to use. I have found some for Ford, Chevy and Dodge, etc.

Prodigy P3 Brake Controller

I want to install a Prodigy P3 brake controller in my bus (see signature) so I can tow a trailer with brakes. Does anyone know if there is a connector directly into the wiring harness that gets a brake controller wire and others activated at the back of the bus? I think it is a blue wire. Any help would be appreciated.

RE: Tow Wiring Question

Thanks yet again guys. I am probably going to replace the rectangle connection with a round, install a prodigy and wire it into the round plug so I have active brakes on the trailer. Thanks for all the advice.

RE: Tow Wiring Question

Thanks Fred. Would I be so lucky to find a plug into the wiring harness for the Prodigy to activate the brake controller pins on the rear plug in? That sure would make installation a breeze. Please advise.

Tow Wiring Question

I recently purchased a Holiday Rambler Endeaver LE diesel pusher. I want to tow a trailer with electric brakes. There is already a plug in wired into the motorhome wiring by the bumper hitch receiver. It is a rectrangle 6 pole plugin. My question is if anyone knows if this is a standard plugin factory installed and if it might be wired to handle electric brakes on what ever is towed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Strategies for buying used

I recently bought the motorhome in my signature from PPL. Paying cash, I got a very good price. Being to see, checkout, compare and drive multiple motorhomes was extremely helpful in making a decision. The experience gave me a chance to determine the layout and options I liked the best. I am extremely pleased with my choice. It is amazing how reasonable you can get a good used top of the line motorhome these days. I agree with most of the above about cash is king, etc. but there is no substitute for being able to test drive several choices to see how they handle. Good luck on your search. Be careful, salesmen are the same everywhere and you must be very demanding to get what you want for a fair price. Let them know you can see through their sales talk, insist on what you feel is a fair price and remember, it is your money not theirs, get what YOU want.

RE: Friendly people in Texas

We Texans are taught hospitality from grade 1. It is just our way. Welcome to everyone from all Texans. We just wish the rest of the world could get along like we do here.

RE: Power Chips??

I agree with Ironbutt above. You can see I also have a Dodge with the Predator chip from my signature. I pull a 5th wheel and saw an amazing difference towing. Mine was about $350. but the results were 4-5 mpg increase in mileage towing or not. The power difference is definitely noticable. I recommend the Predator to all my friends. Many have installed it and ALL are thrilled with it's performance increases.

RE: Bad thing happened.

I would call the electrician to come out and give him a chance to see what was damaged and determine what he did wrong. Take pictures first so you have documatation. This will give him a chance to correct the problem and negotiate his responsibility for damages. If he is not willing to accept responsibility the courts are your only option. Let us know how it turns out.

RE: 2005 GMC Duramax - how do I improve gas mileage?

You might want to check out the Predator. It does the same thing as the Workhorse at a much more reasonable cost. I would highly recommend it.

RE: Battery Hydro Caps

Thanks folks for all the feedback. I think I will go with the Water Miser Caps.

RE: To Cruise....Or Not To Cruise....

I use cruise as much as possible but unlike the other responders, I turn off tow/haul once I get up to speed (usually 60mph or so). My diesel the way I have it configured doesn't even know the trailer is back there. On hills sometimes the tranny will down shift but will up shift pretty quickly. If it is a long hill or a tall bridge, I kick on tow/haul until I clear it. I am sure I will hear a lot of folks disagree but my dually is a real work horse and does not object at all.

RE: Where to fill fresh water tank when boondocking

Thanks for the feedback folks. I think I will fill the fresh water tank before I leave and see how that works for me.

Where to fill fresh water tank when boondocking

I will be boondocking at a motorcycle rally about 350 miles from home this June and did not want to haul there with my fresh water tanks full. I was wondering where you boondockers get your fresh water when you are out for extended periods. Any suggestions?

RE: Landing Gear Stuck, help!

I had the exact same problem. The fuse was inline about 2 feet back from the motor towards the battery above the access door. My electrician friend and his wife were with me. Since we had no fuses at that time (obviously I do now) he used a paper clip we found on the ground to fix it. Pulled the paper clip once it was loaded on the truck. Replaced the fuse when we got home. Look for the fuse. It will fix your problem.
